This 10-day Kashmir & Ladakh tour is the ultimate Himalayan road journey. Begin in lush Srinagar — houseboats on Dal Lake, Mughal gardens, and gondola rides over snow-capped Gulmarg. Then cross the mighty Zoji La pass into the high-altitude desert of Ladakh, where ancient monasteries perch on cliffs, the sky meets turquoise Pangong Lake, and sand dunes rise in Nubra Valley.

Day-by-Day Itinerary

Day 1Arrive Srinagar — Dal Lake Welcome

Arrive at Srinagar Airport. Private transfer to your Dal Lake houseboat. Evening Shikara ride on the lake. Overnight on the houseboat with traditional Kashmiri dinner.

Day 2Srinagar Sightseeing

Full-day Srinagar tour: Mughal gardens (Nishat Bagh, Shalimar Bagh), Shankaracharya Temple, Hazratbal Shrine, and old city bazaars. Evening at leisure on Dal Lake.

Day 3Gulmarg — Gondola Ride

Drive to Gulmarg (56 km). Board the Gulmarg Gondola for Phase 1 and Phase 2 with Himalayan panoramas. Return to Srinagar. Hotel check-in.

Day 4Drive Srinagar → Kargil (via Zoji La Pass)

Early morning drive to Kargil (230 km, ~6 hrs). Cross the dramatic Zoji La pass (3,528m) — the gateway to Ladakh. Roadside stops at Drass — the second coldest inhabited place on earth. Check in to hotel in Kargil.

Day 5Kargil → Leh (via Lamayuru)

Drive Kargil to Leh (230 km, ~6 hrs). En route visit Lamayuru Monastery — one of Ladakh's oldest, perched dramatically over a moonland valley. Magnetic Hill and Sangam (confluence of Indus and Zanskar rivers). Check in to Leh hotel.

Day 6Leh Acclimatisation & Monasteries

Mandatory acclimatisation day. Morning walk around Leh Market and Leh Palace. Visit Thiksey Monastery, Shey Palace, and Hemis Monastery (largest in Ladakh). No strenuous activity to help your body adjust to 3,500m altitude.

Day 7Nubra Valley via Khardung La

Drive over Khardung La (5,359m) — one of the world's highest motorable roads — to Nubra Valley. Visit Diskit Monastery and see the giant Maitreya Buddha statue. Bactrian double-humped camel ride on Hunder sand dunes. Overnight in Nubra Valley camp or guesthouse.

Day 8Nubra Valley → Pangong Lake

Drive from Nubra to Pangong Lake (160 km, ~5 hrs) via Shyok Valley. Arrive at the iconic Pangong Tso — a 134 km-long lake straddling India and China. Watch the lake change hues of blue, green, and grey. Overnight in lakeside camp.

Day 9Pangong → Return Leh + Departure Prep

Morning at Pangong Lake for sunrise photography. Drive back to Leh (160 km). Evening at leisure, souvenir shopping at Leh Market. Farewell dinner and departure briefing.

Day 10Fly Leh → Home

Post-breakfast transfer to Leh Airport for your return flight. Tour ends with lifetime memories of the Himalayas.

  • • Best season: June to September. Zoji La pass may close October–May due to snow.
  • • Carry personal medicines and consult your doctor before travel to high altitude.
  • • Drive from Srinagar to Kargil is scenic but long — plan rest stops.
