Doodhpathri — literally 'Valley of Milk' in Kashmiri — is one of Kashmir's most accessible yet undervisited destinations. Located in the Budgam district, just 42 km from Srinagar, it sits at 2,730 metres in a vast natural amphitheatre of alpine meadows, glacial streams and pine-fringed hills.

The name comes from the white, milk-like appearance of the fast-flowing glacial streams that cross the meadow. Unlike Gulmarg (crowded) and Sonamarg (far), Doodhpathri remains refreshingly quiet, genuinely beautiful, and easily done as a half-day trip from Srinagar — making it perfect for adding to any Kashmir itinerary.
