Trivilio Journey
Signature Kashmir
The essential Kashmir, thoughtfully personalized.
Your first Kashmir journey should not feel like following someone else's itinerary.
We start with the places that make Kashmir special — Srinagar, its lakes and culture, the mountains of Gulmarg, the valleys of Pahalgam and the alpine landscapes of Sonmarg — and then shape the Journey around what you actually want to experience.
More scenery. More food and culture. More mountains. More snow. More time to slow down.
Kashmir is the destination. The Journey is yours.
A Kashmir Journey That Starts With You
There is no single way to experience Kashmir.
Two people can visit the same places and come away with completely different experiences.
One traveller may want quiet valleys, mountain views and long scenic drives. Another may want Kashmiri food, old Srinagar, local crafts and time around the city. Someone else may be drawn to altitude, snow and the Gondola in Gulmarg.
So we do not begin with a fixed package.
We begin by understanding you.
What do you want to see? What do you enjoy? How do you like to travel? How much time do you have? What kind of pace feels right?
Then we shape the Journey around those answers.
The Places May Be Familiar. Your Journey Doesn't Have to Be.
Srinagar. Sonmarg. Pahalgam. Gulmarg.
These are places many travellers want to experience on their first visit to Kashmir. And for good reason.
But simply visiting all four does not automatically make a great Kashmir Journey.
The question is not only where you go. It is how much time you spend there, what you experience, what you skip, and what you allow yourself to discover along the way.
Conventional approach
Fixed Package → Fixed Route → Fixed Nights → Fixed Activities
Trivilio approach
You → Your Intent → Your Pace → Your Journey
Tell Us What You Want From Kashmir
Your interests do not have to determine the entire Journey. They help us understand what deserves more of your time.
If you love scenery → more Pahalgam
If landscapes, valleys, rivers and mountain views are what draw you to Kashmir, Pahalgam may become the heart of the Journey. Instead of treating it as a list of excursions, we can give the valley enough time to breathe.
If you love food, culture and city life → more Srinagar
Srinagar may deserve more than an arrival and departure night. We can consider Mughal gardens, Dal Lake, Downtown, Lal Chowk, crafts, markets, food, tea rooms and cafés according to what genuinely interests you.
If you love mountains, altitude and cable cars → more Gulmarg
Gulmarg may receive more time. The Gondola can be part of the experience, but Gulmarg should not be reduced to a cable-car stop. Mountain scenery, meadows, walks and seasonal activities can matter just as much.
If you love alpine landscapes, ponies and glaciers → more Sonmarg
Sonmarg can become a more meaningful part of the Journey. It may work as a day experience or, when time, season, accommodation and the overall Journey make it sensible, an overnight stay.
If you love winter and snow → potentially more Gulmarg
In winter, the Journey may naturally place greater emphasis on Gulmarg and suitable snow experiences. Weather and current operating conditions determine the final plan.
If you want to understand Kashmir → more Srinagar
Food, crafts, architecture, markets, tea rooms, heritage and local neighbourhoods can tell you something about Kashmir that a checklist of viewpoints cannot.
You do not have to choose just one. Your preferences simply tell us where the Journey should breathe a little more.
Srinagar: The City Side of Kashmir
For some travellers, Srinagar is where the Journey begins. For others, it becomes one of the most interesting parts of Kashmir.
Srinagar is not only Dal Lake and a Shikara ride. It is a living city with old neighbourhoods, gardens, food, crafts, markets, riverfronts, cafés and layers of history.

Mughal gardens
Depending on season and interest, the Journey may include Shalimar Bagh, Nishat Bagh and Chashme Shahi. The idea is not to race through every garden. If gardens, landscape design and Kashmir's Mughal history matter to you, we give them meaningful time.
Dal Lake
A Shikara ride can be one of the easiest ways to slow down. Timing matters; the lake feels different at different times of day. It should fit the Journey, not exist as a compulsory one-hour activity.
Downtown Srinagar
For travellers interested in the older character of the city, Downtown offers a very different Kashmir from the resort circuit: old streets, traditional architecture, shrines, local commerce, bakeries, workshops and everyday life. We curate this respectfully, not as a checklist.
Lal Chowk and central Srinagar
Lal Chowk shows contemporary Srinagar — shopping, movement, local commerce, food and the everyday city. For some travellers, that is more meaningful than another generic tourist stop.
Crafts and local workshops
Where relevant and available, the Journey may include Kashmir's craft traditions such as papier-mâché, carpet weaving, shawls, embroidery and woodwork. The emphasis is on understanding the craft and its people, not compulsory shopping.
Food and tea
Srinagar can introduce you to Kashmiri food in a thoughtful way: Wazwan, traditional dishes, kahwa, noon chai, bakeries, cafés and neighbourhood food experiences, depending on your preferences.
Cafés
For travellers who enjoy contemporary Srinagar, café culture can become part of the Journey. We recommend places according to the traveller rather than create a generic "top 10" list.
Pahalgam: When Scenery Becomes the Journey
Pahalgam is often reduced to a list of places. We present it differently.
For travellers who love landscapes, nature and slower days, Pahalgam may deserve two nights or more, because the value is not only in visiting one viewpoint. It is in having time around the valley.

Aru
Aru can suit travellers looking for open mountain scenery, meadows and a quieter landscape. In snow it can be difficult to reach, and whether visitors are allowed depends on snow clearance.
Betaab Valley
A popular scenic area that can fit naturally into a Pahalgam day, depending on interests and current arrangements.
Chandanwari
A mountain experience that can be difficult to reach in snow. Whether visitors are allowed depends on snow clearance.
Pony riding
For travellers who genuinely enjoy the idea of exploring by pony, it can be considered. It is never mandatory.
Pahalgam market
The market is good for a slow walk, local shopping, snacks, cafés and seeing Pahalgam as a town rather than only a sightseeing circuit.
Pahalgam Golf Course
For travellers interested in golf, or in a different way to experience the landscape. The course is open through the year, but playing needs permission, so we confirm it in advance.
Mini Switzerland
A popular local excursion associated with meadow and mountain scenery. Mini Switzerland is optional, so please check with us whether it is open at the time of your trip. It is sometimes closed for security reasons.
Coffee and slow time
Pahalgam also benefits from doing less. A coffee, a walk, time beside the river, sitting in the market or returning to the hotel early can sometimes be worth more than another excursion.
Gulmarg: Mountains, Altitude and the Season
For some travellers, Gulmarg is about the Gondola. For others, snow. For others, simply the feeling of being in a high mountain landscape.

Gondola
The Gondola can be one of Gulmarg's defining experiences, but it should not become the entire Gulmarg itinerary. Tickets can be bought at the counter or online. In peak periods, such as winter through June, online booking opens only a day or two before the ride, and the window is announced on the official Gondola website, jammukashmircablecar.com. We usually suggest buying at the counter on the day: the Gondola sometimes pauses for maintenance or weather, and buying on the spot avoids the hassle of refunds on tickets bought in advance. Weather and operating status are checked before we promise it.
Winter
Gulmarg may become a stronger focus for travellers who want snow. Depending on conditions and operations, the Journey may include snow experiences, winter activities, mountain views and Gondola time.
Beyond activities
A traveller who wants to walk, photograph the landscape, enjoy the hotel and spend time in the mountains may not need a packed activity schedule.
Sonmarg: Kashmir at Its Alpine Edge
For many first-time visitors, Sonmarg works well as a day experience. For others, an overnight may make more sense if they want to slow down.

Alpine scenery
Dramatic mountain landscapes and high-valley views.
Meadows and mountain views
Open space and a different feel from the lower valleys.
Pony experiences
Where appropriate and wanted, never assumed.
Glacier-related experiences
Only where accessible. Access depends on season and current conditions.
Seasonal exploration
What Sonmarg offers changes through the year, and so does how long it deserves.
Access, weather, road conditions and local operating arrangements are checked for your travel date. In snow, whether visitors are allowed depends on snow clearance, as it does for Aru and Chandanwari.
A Route Many First-Time Travellers Love
There is a natural rhythm to a first Kashmir Journey that many travellers enjoy: beginning in Srinagar, moving into the mountains and valleys, and returning to Srinagar before departure.
Illustrative example — not a fixed itinerary. The route below shows one way a 6 nights / 7 days Journey can look. Trip length is only a starting point and can be customised.
- Day 1 — Arrive in SrinagarSettle in, slow down and begin experiencing Kashmir at an easy pace. Depending on arrival time, consider a Shikara, garden, walk or relaxed evening.
- Day 2 — Srinagar / SonmargA culture- and food-oriented traveller → more Srinagar. An alpine and mountain-oriented traveller → Sonmarg.
- Day 3 — Srinagar to PahalgamMove into the Lidder Valley. The journey is part of the experience, not merely a transfer.
- Day 4 — PahalgamA slower day. Aru, Betaab Valley, Chandanwari, pony riding, market time, cafés, golf or simply enjoying the valley may be considered, depending on you.
- Day 5 — Pahalgam to GulmargMove from valley landscapes towards the higher mountain setting of Gulmarg.
- Day 6 — Gulmarg to SrinagarExperience Gulmarg according to season and interests before returning to Srinagar.
- Day 7 — DepartureA relaxed departure.
This is a framework, not a prescription.
- Sonmarg may be a day experience or an overnight stay.
- Srinagar may deserve more time.
- Pahalgam may become the heart of the Journey.
- Gulmarg may take priority in winter.
We decide that with you.

A Journey That Doesn't Make You Rush Through Kashmir
Seeing more does not always mean experiencing more.
A Journey can look impressive on paper and still leave you exhausted — early departures, long drives, constant hotel changes and a list of attractions to tick off.
We prefer to create enough space for Kashmir to actually be experienced. That may mean:
- Fewer unnecessary hotel changes
- Realistic driving days
- Time to enjoy your surroundings
- Flexibility around weather and energy
- Mornings that are not always rushed
- Experiences chosen for you rather than added to fill a package
The right pace depends on you.
Where You Stay Is Part of the Journey
Accommodation should support the way you want to experience Kashmir.
We consider location, character, comfort, views, access, atmosphere, season and how the stay fits into the route.
Srinagar
Possible stay styles include a well-located city hotel, a quieter boutique-style stay, a property around Dal Lake or a houseboat experience. The choice depends on whether you want city access, lake atmosphere, heritage character, quiet surroundings or convenience.
Pahalgam
Because Pahalgam rewards slowing down, we consider views, quiet surroundings, comfort, access to the valley and whether the property itself is worth spending time in.
Gulmarg
Location and season matter greatly. We consider the mountain setting, winter conditions, access, comfort, views and proximity to relevant activities.
Sonmarg
If Sonmarg becomes an overnight stay, accommodation is considered as part of the overall Journey rather than simply adding a hotel night. Availability and season can materially affect the decision.
Specific hotels are a current evaluation pool, not permanent inclusions. Availability, season and your preferences can change the recommendation.
Kashmir Changes With the Season
Spring may call for gardens and flowers. Summer may invite longer outdoor days and greener mountains. Autumn can transform the Valley with changing foliage. Winter can shift the focus towards snow and Gulmarg.
We don't believe in selling the same itinerary twelve months a year.
We Don't Just Arrange the Route. We Think Through the Journey.
Before recommending a Journey, we think about:
- What you want to experience
- How you like to travel
- How much time you have
- What pace feels comfortable
- What season you're visiting
- What deserves more of your time
- What isn't worth adding
Then we bring those decisions together into one coherent Journey.
