Kashmir Together

A Kashmir Journey Made for Everyone Travelling Together

Families do not travel as identical travellers.

Some want adventure. Some want quiet mornings. Some want scenery, food, culture or simply more time together.

Trivilio designs your Kashmir Journey around those differences — with the right pace, thoughtful stays, sensible routing and experiences that work for the people travelling with you.

Different ages. Different interests. One Journey — thoughtfully designed around all of you.

Start Designing My Family JourneyTalk to Trivilio

How Do You Plan a Kashmir Trip When Everyone Wants Something Slightly Different?

One person wants mountains.

Another wants shopping.

The children want something exciting.

Grandparents want comfort.

Parents want everyone to have a good time.

The answer is not to add more activities.

It is to design the Journey better.

Kashmir Is Better When Everyone Can Enjoy It

A good family Journey is not about keeping everyone busy.

It is about making the Journey comfortable enough for different people to enjoy Kashmir in their own way. That can mean:

  • A slower morning after a long travel day
  • Choosing a stay that makes the next day easier
  • Keeping a sightseeing day flexible
  • Allowing children time to explore
  • Giving older travellers enough rest
  • Choosing experiences that genuinely interest the family
  • Avoiding unnecessary hotel changes
  • Leaving room for an unplanned cup of kahwa or a quiet evening

The goal is simple:

Everyone comes home feeling that Kashmir was a good trip for them.

One Family. Different Needs. One Thoughtfully Designed Journey.

Different ages

A six-year-old, a teenager, a parent and a grandparent may experience the same destination very differently. We design with those differences in mind.

Different energy levels

Not every day needs to begin early or end late. Some days can be full of exploration. Others can deliberately be slower.

Comfortable routing

The best family itinerary is not necessarily the one that covers the most places. We consider driving time, check-in and check-out, sightseeing load and where it makes sense to stay.

Fewer unnecessary changes

Changing hotels repeatedly can make a family holiday feel like logistics. Where possible, we design the Journey so that moving between places has a reason.

Children are considered, not just entertained

Kashmir does not need to become an amusement itinerary. Nature, snow, pony rides, gardens, lakes, markets, food and simple exploration can all become part of a child's experience.

Older travellers matter too

Comfort, walking requirements, access, rest and realistic sightseeing are considered before the Journey is finalized.

Time together

The Journey should leave room for the family to actually be together. Not every hour needs an activity.

We Design Around the Family, Not Just the Destination

Before recommending a route, Trivilio considers:

Family profile

Who is travelling? Children and their ages, teenagers, parents, grandparents, multigenerational groups.

Interests

What does everyone enjoy? Scenery, snow, food, culture, photography, shopping, nature, light adventure, relaxation.

Pace

How should the Journey feel? Relaxed, balanced, active or flexible.

Comfort

What matters? Room configuration, hotel quality, views, accessibility, quiet, location, dining, heating and seasonal comfort.

Mobility

Are there elderly travellers, young children, mobility limitations, travellers who prefer shorter walks, or travellers comfortable with longer excursions?

Logistics

Driving distances, road conditions, seasonal access, check-in and check-out rhythm, luggage movement, sightseeing load and weather-related flexibility.

Srinagar: A Gentle Start to Kashmir

Srinagar can be one of the most flexible parts of a family Journey. It offers scenery, gardens, food, crafts, architecture, shopping and everyday city life without requiring every experience to be physically demanding.

Terraced water channel and Mughal garden at Nishat Bagh, Srinagar

Dal Lake and Shikara

A Shikara ride can be a relaxed family experience, especially when timing and duration are chosen thoughtfully. It does not need to be a compulsory one-hour activity. The best timing depends on the season, weather, light and what the family wants from it.

Mughal gardens

Shalimar Bagh, Nishat Bagh and Chashme Shahi can work well for families who enjoy gardens, scenery and open spaces. The emphasis is on enjoying the surroundings rather than completing a checklist.

Downtown Srinagar

For families interested in culture and local life, Downtown offers a very different view of Srinagar: traditional architecture, shrines and mosques, local commerce, bakeries, workshops and everyday streets. Exploration is planned respectfully and with awareness of the family group.

Lal Chowk

Lal Chowk offers a more contemporary view of Srinagar — shops, movement, food and everyday city life.

Kashmiri crafts

Families can discover papier-mâché, carpets, shawls, embroidery and woodwork. The focus is on understanding the craft and meeting the people behind it rather than creating pressure to shop.

Food

A family Journey can introduce Kashmiri food gradually: traditional dishes, Wazwan, kahwa, noon chai, bakeries, cafés and contemporary dining. Dietary preferences and requirements are discussed during Journey Design.

Pahalgam: Space to Slow Down

Pahalgam can be particularly useful in a family Journey because it allows the family to move away from a city rhythm.

The Lidder River flowing through Betaab Valley, Pahalgam

Aru Valley

Aru can offer mountain scenery, open landscapes and a change of pace. Whether it belongs depends on the family's interests, season and mobility. In snow it can be difficult to reach, and whether visitors are allowed depends on snow clearance.

Betaab Valley

A scenic excursion that may suit families looking for accessible mountain landscapes and open space.

Chandanwari

Depending on the family's interests, Chandanwari can be considered as part of the Pahalgam experience. It can be difficult to reach in snow, and whether visitors are allowed depends on snow clearance.

Pony riding

Pony riding can be included for families who genuinely want it. It is an option, not a mandatory component of a Kashmir package.

Pahalgam market

A simple market walk can be enjoyable for families — snacks, local shopping, small discoveries and a chance to slow down.

Pahalgam Golf Course

The golf course can add another low-pressure outdoor experience. It is open through the year, but playing needs permission, so we confirm it in advance.

Slow family time

Sometimes the best Pahalgam experience is simply a slow breakfast, time near the river, coffee, walking, enjoying the property and letting children have unstructured time.

  • Pahalgam →

Gulmarg: Mountains, Snow and Shared Experiences

Gulmarg can bring a completely different energy to the family Journey.

The Gulmarg Gondola above snowy slopes

Gondola

The Gulmarg Gondola can be considered where appropriate, subject to operating conditions, weather, queues and the family's preferences. Tickets can be bought at the counter or online. In peak periods, such as winter through June, online booking opens only a day or two before the ride, and the window is announced on the official Gondola website, jammukashmircablecar.com. We usually suggest buying at the counter on the day: the Gondola sometimes pauses for maintenance or weather, and buying on the spot avoids the hassle of refunds on tickets bought in advance. It should not be treated as the entire Gulmarg experience.

Mountain landscapes

Families can simply enjoy the meadows, mountain views and seasonal scenery.

Winter

In winter, snow itself can become an experience. Depending on conditions and interest, families may explore playing in the snow, beginner-friendly snow experiences, skiing where appropriate, photography and mountain scenery.

The level of activity should match the family rather than the season alone.

  • Gulmarg →

Sonmarg: A Day in the Mountains

Sonmarg offers alpine landscapes and a strong sense of being in the mountains.

Depending on the family, it can work as a day excursion, a longer mountain experience or an overnight stay when it genuinely improves the Journey.

Possible experiences may include mountain landscapes, meadows, pony experiences, glacier-related excursions where accessible and seasonal exploration.

Weather, road conditions, seasonal access and family comfort influence the decision. In snow, whether visitors are allowed depends on snow clearance.

Where You Stay Matters More With a Family

A family-friendly property is not simply one with larger rooms.

Trivilio considers room configuration, family room availability, adjoining rooms where available, location, access, views, heating and seasonal comfort, dining options, quiet, service, proximity to the next day's activities and whether the property itself is worth spending time in.

Srinagar

Possible accommodation styles: city hotels, boutique properties, Dal Lake properties, houseboats and quieter retreats.

Pahalgam

Consider views, quiet, comfort, family-friendly room arrangements, access to the valley and space to relax.

Gulmarg

Consider the mountain setting, access, winter practicality, heating, views and comfort.

Sonmarg

An overnight stay is considered only when it adds value to the overall Journey.

  • Where to stay in Kashmir →

A Family Journey Should Not Feel Like a Transfer Schedule

One of the most important parts of family travel is what happens between destinations. Trivilio considers:

  • Realistic drive times
  • Road conditions
  • Stops
  • Children's needs
  • Luggage
  • Check-in and check-out
  • Meal breaks
  • Weather
  • Seasonal road access
  • How much sightseeing is realistic after a long drive

The objective is not to minimize every minute. It is to prevent unnecessary fatigue.

What a Kashmir Together Journey Could Look Like

Illustrative Journey. This is an example, not a fixed itinerary. Your Journey is shaped around your interests, pace, season, accommodation preferences and practical requirements.

This is an example of how a family Journey might be structured.

Illustrative example — not a fixed package or mandatory itinerary. Trip length is only a starting point and can be customised.

  1. Day 1 — Arrive in SrinagarSettle in, keep the first day easy and allow the family to adjust.
  2. Day 2 — SrinagarChoose from Dal Lake, gardens, local food, crafts or a relaxed city experience, depending on the family.
  3. Day 3 — Srinagar to PahalgamTravel at a comfortable pace and settle into Pahalgam.
  4. Day 4 — PahalgamA flexible day for Aru, Betaab Valley, pony riding, market time or simply enjoying the surroundings.
  5. Day 5 — Pahalgam to GulmargMove toward Gulmarg with enough time to settle in and enjoy the mountain setting.
  6. Day 6 — GulmargGondola or seasonal mountain experiences where appropriate, with room for the family to slow down.
  7. Day 7 — Gulmarg to Srinagar / departureDepending on flight timing and the final Journey design, return to Srinagar for departure or an overnight.

The actual Journey may be shorter, longer, slower, more destination-focused or more flexible.

Not Every Family Needs the Same Kashmir

Young children

Priorities may include shorter travel days, flexible mornings, fewer hotel changes, accessible experiences, downtime and family-friendly dining.

Teenagers

The Journey may include more snow, photography, adventure, markets, cafés and outdoor experiences.

Multigenerational families

The design may prioritize comfort, mobility, slower pacing, convenient stays, fewer transfers and flexible sightseeing.

Families celebrating something

Birthdays, anniversaries, reunions or other milestones can influence accommodation, dining and special experiences. The celebration is integrated naturally into the Journey rather than added as decoration.

The Best Family Memories Are Often the Unplanned Ones

A family Journey should leave space for moments that cannot be scheduled.

A child seeing snow for the first time.

Grandparents enjoying a quiet view.

Everyone sharing kahwa after a long day.

A family sitting together beside the river.

A spontaneous stop because the landscape looked worth seeing.

That is why Trivilio does not design every minute.

We design enough structure to make the Journey work — and enough space to let Kashmir happen.

Your Family. Your Pace. Your Kashmir.

Kashmir Together begins with understanding the people travelling. This is TRIVILIO JOURNEY DESIGN™ for your family.
