The Lidder is one of those rivers that makes you understand why people travel for water. It starts as glacial melt somewhere high in the mountains above Pahalgam, and by the time it reaches the valley floor it has turned into a fast, cold, brilliantly clear torrent that twists through pine forests and open meadows. Our team has been taking guests on this river for years, and the thrill never gets old.
The main rafting stretch runs about 16 km from Pahalgam town toward Aru Valley. That takes roughly 2 hours in the water, with Grade II and III rapids keeping things interesting throughout. During peak snowmelt season in April and May, a couple of sections can push into Grade IV territory, which is when things get genuinely exciting. By July and August, the river calms down enough for families with children to enjoy a gentler ride. Either way, the scenery alone makes the trip worthwhile.

Beyond the River: More Pahalgam Adventures
Rafting is just one piece of what makes Pahalgam one of Kashmir\'s best adventure destinations. Most of our guests combine it with at least one or two of these activities, and we are always happy to help put together a multi-day Pahalgam adventure itinerary.
